Solution dialog window is an interface to interact with the user
while E-R modeling using eXERD. For example eXERD asks confirmation or
desired selection of the user regarding with automatic processing,
related tasks for a particular task, and the like.
Commonly, most users feel confused or difficult about the
program if unexpected dialog box appears and imposes some options to
users.
Considering these things, solution dialog box of eXERD describes
situations with images and explains with abridged icons for
users to understand easily.
Below is the solution dialog window when the user wants a PK
column is deleted and there is some foreign key referencing it. This
dialog window lets the user choose to method to deal with the FK
column(s).
In case that there already exists a column of the same name
in the child table to newly connect with a relationship, the solution
dialog box below asks how to handle the collision of the column name.
Suppose that there are a plural number of foreign keys that
refer to plural number of PK of the parent table. When you want to
delete only some part of those FK, to keep consist E-R modeling the
solution dialog asks options as below:
Suppose that you want to delete a domain that is being in use
by some column(s). Solution dialog asks which way to choose regarding
with the reference from the column(s) as below:
Suppose that you enter a new domain name for a column that
has specific data type. Solution dialog asks whether to register that
as a new, empty domain with the given name, or to register a new
domain by applying the data type of the column under editing as
below:
